A master-planned community that opened in 1999, which means the first driveways and pool decks are past twenty and the design review is strict. We pour to Anthem's standards and handle the paperwork.

Anthem sits at the top of the Valley on I-17, about 22,000 people in the Parkside neighborhoods and the gated Country Club that Del Webb built from 1999 into the 2010s around Daisy Mountain. It is unincorporated Maricopa County, so building permits come from the county, and everything visible from the street goes through the Anthem Community Council's design review. The homes are newer than most of our service area, but the concrete has aged fast: the ground here is rocky, caliche-bound desert with shallow bedrock on the hillside lots, and driveways poured in the 2000 building rush were thin and often unreinforced. Twenty-five years later they have spalled at the apron, cracked at the garage and, on the slopes, slid a little downhill.

Anthem work is driveway replacement and widening, pool-deck extensions and cool-deck recoating, slabs for casitas, sheds and pergolas, side-yard RV pads where the lot allows, and patios cut into hillside backyards with block retaining. We pour early — Anthem is a few degrees cooler than Surprise, but July is still July — and we bring the design-review submittal with the estimate so approval and scheduling run together. About thirty miles from our yard by the 303 and I-17; we group Anthem days.

Who approves concrete work in Anthem?

Two bodies: Maricopa County issues any building permit (structural slabs, some approaches), and the Anthem Community Council's design review approves anything visible from the street — driveway widenings, pads, finishes. We prepare both with the estimate.

Why is my 2002 driveway already failing?

Thin builder concrete on rocky ground with no compacted base, twenty-plus summers, and irrigation water at the edges. It's the most common Anthem call we get. Replacement with a proper base and reinforcement lasts several times longer.

Can you pour on a hillside lot?

Yes — we cut a level bench, retain it with block, put drainage behind the wall and pour the patio on compacted fill. Hillside work is priced by the site, not by the square foot.

Do you serve the Country Club gates?

Yes. We register with the gate the day before and park where the community asks.

Is Anthem too far for you?

It's the far end of our territory — about thirty miles — so we schedule Anthem jobs together and give you a firm date. Storm repairs and leveling jobs are the exception; those we fit in.
