Concrete in Surprise doesn't freeze, but it bakes: UV and 115-degree surface temperatures dry out the top of the slab, the finish erodes, aggregate shows, and oil, rust and irrigation stains set in. If the slab is level and the cracks are hairline — which is most of them — the answer is a polymer-modified cementitious overlay: a quarter-inch to half-inch of new surface bonded to the old, broom-finished, colored, or stamped to look like flagstone or pavers. It costs a third to half of replacement and takes two days instead of a week.
We grind or shot-blast to sound concrete, fill cracks and pits, apply a bond coat and the overlay, finish it, and seal it with a UV-stable sealer. Garage floors get an epoxy or polyaspartic coating over the same prep, in flake or solid color, which handles hot tires and oil for a decade. What resurfacing can't fix: slabs that have heaved or settled, cracks that move, or concrete that's crumbling through — those need leveling or replacement, and we'll tell you which.

Questions we get about resurfacing & overlays
Is my driveway a candidate for resurfacing?
If it's level, the cracks are hairline and don't move, and the concrete is solid when tapped — yes. If a section has sunk or lifted, or the surface is crumbling to gravel, it needs leveling or replacement. The site visit is free and we'll say which.
How long does an overlay last?
Ten to 15 years in Arizona with a reseal every three to five. It's bonded to the slab, so it lasts as long as the slab is stable.
Can you make my driveway look like pavers?
A stamped overlay in a paver or flagstone pattern with two colors gets close, for well under the cost of real pavers over a new base.
Will the overlay crack where the old cracks were?
Hairline cracks are filled and covered; we cut control joints in the overlay to match the slab's joints. Moving cracks will telegraph through — which is why those slabs get leveled or replaced instead.
Epoxy or polyaspartic for the garage?
Polyaspartic cures faster, handles heat and UV better, and costs more. Epoxy is fine on a shaded garage floor; polyaspartic for a garage that faces west or gets sun.
How soon can I drive on it?
Overlays, 48 to 72 hours; garage coatings, 24 hours for foot traffic and 3 to 5 days for vehicles.
